Dr. John E. Deasy, Superintendent of Schools/Los Angeles Unified Public Schools

Dr. Deasy talks to co-host Sharon Jimenez about the fight to stop the elimination of jobs by passing a parcel tax in Los Angeles.  Deasy says property owners would pay a flat parcel tax that would be temporary to keep LAUSD from laying off additional staff.

 

Dr. Octavio Marin, National Association of Latino Independent Producers/Signature Program Director. 

Bob Jimenez interviews Dr. Octavio Marin a dentist turned director of America's leading association of Latino independent producers.  Marin is based in Los Angeles and says the program he heads is providing Latinos with the training they need and the networking necessary to be filling jobs in film production in Hollywood and wherever runaway production takes the producers.

Bob Jimenez talks to Carlos Martinez about his own story of overcoming prejudice and predictions of failure to helping families in Los Angeles develop the working skills to be successful in today's fast changing economy. 

 

Jamie Roddy is the owner of Eden LA in West Los Angeles. 

Roddy tells Sharon Jimenez the economy appears to be gaining some momentum again as more orders come in for custom furniture providing original furniture for her clients and jobs for artisans who make the furniture here in Los Angeles.

Sharon Jimenez talks to film producer and director of one of LA's most enthusiastic promoters.  Mijojlic brings filmmakers from the volatile regions of South East Europe to share their films throughout the year at the Goethe Center in Mid-City and UCLA.

Bob Jimenez talks to Alex Barder about the financing of film projects that originate in LA and how the marketplace is changing quickly in distribution of product.  Chasing the film dollar is not easy for anyone in the film arts business but one thing is sure: Distribution is key.
